Echoes of the Void distinguished as a Finalist of the Architizer A+Awards 2026
The project Echoes of the Void, developed by Segmento Urbano, has been distinguished as a finalist of the Architizer A+Awards 2026, one of the most recognised international architecture awards programmes.
The selection as a finalist places the project among the works highlighted by the international jury of the 2026 edition, reinforcing the recognition it has been achieving across different platforms and contexts of architectural discussion.
Developed as a reflection on the relationship between architecture, ageing, health and the end of life, Echoes of the Void proposes an approach centred on the human experience, exploring the way space can contribute to moments of transition, vulnerability and meaning.
This recognition adds to other international distinctions achieved by the project, including the WAFX Winner award and its selection for the World Architecture Festival, consolidating the relevance of the work developed by Segmento Urbano in the exploration of emerging and socially relevant themes in contemporary architecture.
More than a formal proposal, Echoes of the Void is the result of an investigation into the capacity of architecture to respond to dimensions frequently missing from the disciplinary debate. Through a spatial sequence inspired by the different emotional states associated with the end-of-life process, the project seeks to explore the impact of the built environment in promoting dignity, well-being and reflection.
For Segmento Urbano, this distinction represents not only the recognition of a specific project, but also the validation of a practice that seeks to integrate architecture, territory and the human condition from a broader perspective of the discipline.
